Moving up to full-sized pitch’s and goals

If you’re worried about moving up to full sized pitch’s, or full-sized goals then stay here.

At the end of the season, for some, it’s the last time you’ll play on a youth-dimensioned pitch.

This means bigger pitch’s and goals, but rather than getting demotivated or worried, remember that there’s 21 other players on the pitch in the same situation as you!

Here are some benefits of full-sized pitch’s and goals for outfield players (1) and goalkeepers (2):

(1) Bigger pitch- more space to run in behind.

(1) Bigger goals- more to aim at!

(1) Offsides enabled, more tactics to the game and don’t have to worry about goal hangers!

(2) Bigger box- more area to handle the ball, starting position can be higher.

Now goalkeepers you may be feeling a bit left out, however there aren’t too many benefits for you when it comes to moving in to the full-sized goals!

All I will say is, be patient and you’ll naturally grow in to the size of the goal. It doesn’t happen overnight, so don’t get frustrated and think about how you can adapt your game, such as:

  • Communication

  • Technical ability with the ball

  • Passing (range)

  • Leadership

I hope you found these tips useful, if you did then keep a lookout for more content like this.

Cheers, Farhan
