Another great day in what turned out to be another hot day! Well done to all involved.

Focus: First Touch, Passing + SAQs (Speed, Agility & Quickness).

First touch - Your first touch can make or break your ability to play quickly, or even play at all. Today we tested that with some drills incorporating decision-making by making players think where they’re passing out to, before receiving the ball.

Body position is everything when receiving the ball, so we tested our ability to take a ball on a half turn, when space is available to turn into.

It’s important to get into good habits in training, so shoulder-checking is a MUST before receiving the ball (even if the drill is unopposed).

Passing - Varying passing distances may require different techniques, which we trained using a drilled pass (down the line), switch of play (diagonal) and bounce pass (short and sharp), depending on the coach's call.

SAQs - Control your movement first, then add the speed. Footwork was added before receiving the ball to mimic staying on the move before receiving the ball and moving into space.

Overall - As the day was scorching hot, ball-work was maximised and plenty of breaks in play were used to go over technique! 💯
